HEAVY FREIGHTS ON BRITISH VESSELS.

Out of British vessels which came into port during the 24 hours ended at am, on Saturday, there were no tower than 19,819 tons of general merchandise for the Colony and ports beyond.

The general cargo entered into Hong Kong during the 24 hours ended at 9 am on Saturday was 9,949 tons, al which, 5,791 tona were discharged from British steamers.

The two best returns were 2,580 tons from the ss. Toyci Mara, from Kuran, land 2,149 tons from the British vessel Kum Sang from Calcutta and Singapore,

For porta beyond there were 24,419 tons of general cargo manifested steamers out of 10 arrivals.

Five British steamers carried 13,795 tons, and the balance of 10,624 tons, were on Japanese and Chinese steamers.

The best returns were registered by the Japanese vessel Kashima Maru, which earried 3,045 tons from Yokohama and Kum Sang Shanghai, and the s.5. (British) from Calcutta and Singapore had 4,5-16 tons.

During the period under review there were 19 arrivals and 14 departares. nationalities were: British, 9 Their arrivals and 8 departures; American, s arrivals; French, 1 arrival; Norwegian,

arrivals; Japanese, 3 arrivals and 3 departures; Chinese, 3 arrivals and 2 departures.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

In a notice issued to mariners by the Maritime Customs, Shanghai, it is stated that the wreck of the 1s Lienshing Hes in position from which Amberst Rocks bear S. 51 E magnetic, distant ap- proximately two miles.

The wreck is apparently moving gradually in westerly direction. Marine Department Chart No. 1 is affected.

SHIPPING NOTES:

The total number of deck passengers entered into the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 0 a.m. on Saturday, was 1,867, of whom €39 were brought by the 3.5. Kum Nang from Calcutta and Singa- pore and Singapore.

The master of the a.s. Suiying, 'from Shanghai and Swatow, reports that the No. 3 cook disappeared on the trip down and it is presumed he committed suicide by jumping overboard.
