What steps-if any, have the Gevery ment taken + carry out the suggestion contained in a report, in- corporated in that of the Economic Besources Committee (1990), that both on economic grounds and as a matter of expediency there should be an earnest endeavour to make this Colony self-supporting in so vital a commodity as pig-meat which enters so largely in the dietary of nine tenths of the population of Hong Kong and its dependencies?! [Note. This recommendation will be found on page Ixii, of the Blue Book issued by the Factories and Home and Cottage Industries Sub-Committee.]

This change involves the branches of the International Banking Corporation in Japan, China, India, Straits Settle- ments and Java and will come into force at the close of business on December 31st,

1926..

So far as the Hong Kong office of the International Banking Corporation is concerned, the bank's clients will, we are informed, be notified individually of the alterations which involve no real change as the International Banking Corpora tion has for the last twelve years been owned by the National City Bank of New York

ii. Hong Kong Food Supply:--
