A Remarkable New-Type, High- Speed, Light Car-With Four-wheel Brakes

A three-minute study of these astounding facts may save you from buy- ing an obsolete motor car

T

HIS is the announcement of a revolution- zzy new-type motor, car ... radically different from ay you have ever known before. A car that combines the advanced engi- neering practice of Europe with new and im- proved standards of American performance. That will pickup in 13 seconds from 5 to 30 wiles an hour. That will stop in a car lengths from a speed of 25 miles an hour. That will tar in a 34-foot circle-and park in a 14-foot curb space

This new-type car is a challenge to all former engineering practice. It casts aside every old tradition. And marks the most important light car engineering improvement in the United States dur ing the last 16 years.

Its center of gravity is extremely low-with apple road clearance... thus giving a sense of security you have never found in any light cat before.

31 miles per In- perial gallen

The touring car with top up, or the enclosed models are only 5 feet 9 inches high. Yer they provide more room and comfort than you've ever found in say motor car of this class

Ichas a high-torque, 4-cylinder, 31-horsepower motor of small bore and long stroke-the same engineering principles used in the fastest racing cars. 4-wheel brakes are an integral part of this new cat's chassis design. No American car of this class has ever bad 4-wheel brakes before. Each is completely encased, thus not susceptible to weather conditions.

Two engineering ideals combined. in the new-type car

The Overland Whippet represents a combination of the most advanced European and American engineer- ing thought.

It is a complete note car... designed and built as a unit... not an old-fashioned chassis reconstructed. Over half a million miles of road tests have proved its practical advantages beyond all doubt.

Here's a car that will do over 55 miles an hour in the hands of the average owner... with all the reserve power that this implies.

le traffic it gets away with lightning pickup. I runs like a "six... palls with irresistible power... goes over any average bill without shifting gears.

It has been named the Whipper because its apcod, grace, agility and endurance are exemplified in the famous thoroughbred racing animal of that name.

New chassir features ·

The steering wheel is adjustable, to three positions. The worm and gear irreversible steering mechanism is typical of this car's quality and is especially designed for the 29-inch full balloon tyres and for 4-wheel brakes. Timken bearings are used throughout the front and rear axles. The rear axle housing is banjo-type pressed steel. Underslung semi-elliptic Vanadium steel springs

It is the only 4-cylinder light car that combines geo- nine Chrome silicon steel valves with silcat chain front-end drive and pump water circulation. The Overland Whippet has all of the engine refinements characteristic of the most expensive cars.

Smart speed-type body désign

In is distinctive body lines the Overland Whipper frankly resembles the costliest motor cars of the United States and Europe. The nickel-shelled radiator is of handsome design...every line, curve and contour of the body is the result of painstaking craftsmanship sad study.

Due to its unique body and dash construction there is acmally more head room and leg room than in any other car of this price class.

It reduces present operating costs so that it practically doubles the value of the money now spent for upkeep.

Designed and built

without restrictions

The engineers who designed this car... and the men who built it...have worked without restrictions. Nothing has been spared that would improve its engineering or its quality. And buyers here get the advantage of the moderate price made possible by mass production. The Overland Whippet is not a one- of-two-year car. Instead, it has been honestly built to give years and years of satisfactory service. The touring car has handsome upholstery of Spanish Duratex... a top of excellent material, with glass window at the rear... curtains conveniently stowed in accessible position-scats low and comfortable one-piece vcosilating wind- shield.

front seats

The sedan has unusually large windows, with quick-acting, crank-type regulators.Doors are 33 inches wide fold down, providing easy en- trance and exit. Upholstery, a beautiful cut-velour with trim- ming to match. This model also has cowl ventilator, domelight, and handsome walnut-finished placed in a natural- instrument board. The exterior y restful position finish of all models is a beautiful, triple-coated Appenine blue lacquer that will retain its lustrous beauty for years.

With the introduction of the Overland Whippet, it is folly today to consider the purchase of ap old-fash- ioned, obsolete lightcar.

A new trend of moror car design has started. Other. manufacturers will surely follow in Overland's foot- steps. But today Overland... and Overland alone ...offers you these unique engineering attainments. The first formal showing of the Overland Whipper is now being held by distributors and dealers in this country, Simply in fairness to yourself, see this won derful new-type car.
