LECTURE AT THE CITY HALL:
A lecture entitled Christian Science- The Friend of Mankind " was given' by Mr. J. R. Duna at the Theatre Royal yesterday evening.
The Hon. Mr. D. G. M. Bernard pre- sided and, on behalf of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hongkong, extended a welcome to those present." He said: Christian Science is indeed a practical religion. It heals sickness and is help ing an ever growing number of people to overcome the difficulties and troubles that seem to beset human existence, and is showing them the way of salvation from all evil. Although the Christido Science denomination only began 50 years ago there are to-day throughout the world over 2,200 Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies affiliated with the Mother Church in Boston. The experience of many Chris tian Scientista has been similar to mine inasmuch as I was opposed at one time to what I bellaved Christian Science to be and to tench, but later I found that it was only my wrong conception of it) to which I was opposed. I now regard it as the truth that Jesus taught and demonstrated and which he promised would make us free. The purpose of this lecture is to present the subject of} Christian Science correctly and to bear testimony to the facta pertaining to the life of its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. The lecturer, Mr. John Randall Dunn, C.8.B, is a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and I have much pleasure in introducing
