Being St. Andrew's meeting the Band. of the K.O.S.B.'s under Mr. W. H. Fitz- Harie struck the right note by opaning the proceedings with a Scottish solection and they performed some ayolutions which were very much admired as was the sub- sequent progranime of Scottish music. It seems to have inspired Messrs. Hall and Shenton's sassenach stable as they picked up every race in which they had ́a popy. running. Ralph rode the âve winners for them in convincing style. He annexed Lady Severn's Cup very easily and "his success will, it is hoped, encourage other young men to take up jockeying serious- ly.

14

Lest the impression get abroad that money is the governing factor in racing I should explain that Messrs. Hall and Shenton have not got one highly priced pony in their stable. Their jockey, more over, was in the Novice class at the com. mencement of the season."

The attendance was above the average, the racing was full of excitement and the dividends were well worth standing in a .queue for.

This was won by the Gnome which I tipped to win the third race against better pories. He beat Dobbin by three lengths and Loch Rannoch was four lengths behind.

GOOD SCORING.

All three League Matches decided on Saturday ware full of interest. The two in the first division were drawn, and honours were evenly divided. The Hong Kong Cricket Club felded À much stronger side against the University than they did last week against the Chinesu, to whom they lost, and they, nearly cap- tured the three points. "But the Univer- sity were well served by their captain, who made the highest score of the day and saved his side from collapse. The Civil Service ». the Indians was the other match.

In the second division, Recreio made their debut into League Cricket and shared points with the Police who were making their first appearance this sea-
