The question whether a woman should be executed by the guillotine was recently agitating French legal circles as a result of the passing of the death sentence by the Assize Court at Douai upon Mme. Lefebvre, & member of one of the wealthiest families in the north of France, for the murder of her daughter- in-law, of whom she was jealous. The judge sentenced her to be guillotined in a public square in the town of Lille. The condemned, woman is more than 60 years of age.
