Consequent upon the charge made by Admiralty Board against me over an order, a question arose regarding the authenticity of a certain document. I held a belief that the said document was genuine.
I, on the other hand, took the same interest as a 3rd party, and I should have preserved a receipt for it. However, due to its being only payable to the Mayor, I thought it unnecessary to take precaution. The records are kept at the Brigade office.
At Fort William, a Native Banker issued the cheque. And in this case, no difficulty ought to exist in ascertaining whether it was ever presented for payment by the Major.
Not having the hours to be knowing rectified, I postponed sending you the ultimate result.
