DIAGNOSING DEATH.

COLOURLESS DRUG THAT

REMOVES ALL DOUBT.

The exact diagnosis of death is now possible, according to the claim put forward by one of the firms which ex- bibited at the London Medical Ex- hibition, held recently.

In cases where it may not be possible to state whether death has, or has not, actually occurred the injection is made of a certain colourless drug. If there is still life in the body a green colouration develops at the site of the injection; atherwise the place injected remains colourless. There was a suggestion that an actual demonstration of the process should be made upon guineapigs, but on legal grounds this bad to be abandoned, and the place of the actual guineapigs is taken by coloured drawings illustrative of the effect.

Among the surgical appliances exhibit- ed was a chair specially designed so that the surgeon can operate on the patient while he remains in an upright position. Many firms exhibited preparations of insulin, of vitamins, and of other drugs derived from living tissues.

Among other preparations there was aute a loss of body-weight of 1lb. a one which; when injected, is said to en- month, without dieting, reduction of drinks, or increased physical exercise.
