Women's Dinner Sulta.
Although the tendency towards the masculine cut in women's clothes is not now so pronounced as it was, a fashion paper reports that dinner suits are still in demand, particularly by those women who travel a great deal and who find it much more convenient to park n snit in place of the frills and flowers asiated with the ordinary evening frock. These dinner-suits, however, are a fad. Only a superficial glance at the new andels in the stores in town is i required to convince one that we are re- turning to very feminine tastes. Thore are frills in plenty, laces of every material, wonderful artificial flowers and, all the small things which have been neglected for some time past. Bags.
In summer we all prefer a bag that is a small and as light as possible. The bags for the coming season might be described as huge. They are made in any material velvet, silk, but preferably leather.

Just now it is the light wraps that are the great subject of conversation in the dress world of the Rue de la Paix. Different materials are figuring in these according to whether they are destined to be worn for lunch, tea, dinner or danc ing at night, but the prime favourite of them all is chiffon. An idea much in vogue is to fashion the coat or cape of chiffon and add a collar of light kasha or even fur, and to decorate the chiffon with designs embroidered in coloured The seams are always finished with piping of satin or torded ribbon, as much from a practical point how well cut wrap of chiffon, ninon, mousseline de soie or crepe de Chine may be, it is apt to sag in the end, and this prevent this disagreeable habit.
of view an artistic one, for, no matter
Sometimes the cape is made in one tone to match the frock, sometimes in two"or! even three tones of the same colour.- Greens blended in this way look very attractive. Another idea is to add several layers of caper as a decoration to a coat. Another, seeing that ostrich feathers are well on the return to favour, is to add a collarette of ostrich feather plumes and edge the coat or cape itself. with a band of the same.
Conts are mostly fashioned on dolman lines although nuinbera are made accord. ing to the straight-line rule of the mo- ment. At the Grand Prix I noticed numbers of coats and capes cut in one pleve with the top shirred into shape to fit the shoulders. Some of these were shirred down even as far as the waist. A combination of black and white was very » frequent, the coat or cape itself being of black crepe Marocain or cripe Geor gette and the lining white and of the same material. Other shades one sees a great deal of are blue, red, beige and Bois de rose. The more elaborate gapes. the ones which will be thrown over a dinner frock in the evening, are of face mixed judiciously with chiffon or crêpe Georgette. In this case, beige, tan, brown and kindred shades are invariably. chosen, which is as it should be, for, no matter how rare and lovely the lace, there is always something savouring of the Ansh and outré in coloured lace
Then there are the wraps made of net or tulle. The most original of models are being shown just how fashioned of four "layers of fine tulle held together by means of bands of flat, lacquered feathers. The collar is trimmed with similar feathers worked on in the form of embroidery. Worn over a frock trim- med with different coloured beads ar sequins, the effect is most stunning.
As well as transparent wrapa of lace and the flimsier types of material for evening wear, there are also transparent shawls. To begin with, there are the lace shawls, for which rich, patterned laces in black, white and golden brown tones are chosen. Sometimes, the patterns are outlined with a gold or silver thread, or colour effects are introduced by means of tracings in different coloured silks. Then, there are at wls nude of gold lamé so thin that it is no heavier than the flimsiet of chiffon; and shawls, too, of the new transparent chiffon velvet. And, most original of all, there is the bhawl of chiffon, which Louise Boulanger creat ed, and decorated with flowers worked on in coloured raffia. For chillier evenings, there are the charming shawls in delicate pastel shades of heavy silk on which are worked fowers and motifs in coloured Wools.
