had already consulted the Attorney General. That officer suggests, that the resumption of the Crown Leases and regrant (in a divided shape) would effect the object, but might operate unfairly upon which the authorities seem agreed that relief may be granted.

There appears to be a difficulty in disposing of Property owing to the inability of the Lessees (probably owing to the form of Leases) to divide their Lots. Upon this point the Governor was anxious to assist them and on the interests of incumbrancers, and the Governor fears that such a division may be made the means of transferring the liability for Crown Rent to men of straw.

He is, however, of opinion that parties ought to be allowed to alienate portions of their properties.
