The week-end returns were very poor, principally on account of the typhoon. There were very few arrivals for the 48 hours ended at 9 s.m. yesterday, while several vessala scheduled to arriva yester- day failed to put in an appearance when expected, either entering port late in the afternoon, or else not being able to make Hongkong until this morning. No de tails of the number of vessels sailing during Saturday and Sunday could be obtained yesterday. Vessels were warned that it was not safe to leave Hongkong on Saturday, and while" a few of the larger ocean-going vessels, more or less bound by schedule, did so, the majority remained behind.
