ARRIVALS.

October 7th. Kwangtung, British str., 1,572 tons, Capt. B. T. Stephens, from Bangkok, which port she left on September 20th, with rice and general cargo, lying at buoy No. B11.-H. S. Kwaya Maru, Jauntiese str., 2,744 tons. Capt. T. Yoshitake, from Miike, which part she left on October 1st, with a cargo of coal, lying at Quarry Bay.-M. B.K.

ANOTHER DAY OF FOOR RETURNS.

INCREASE IN HONGKONG FREIGHT.

Yesterday's shipping statement showed two more arrivals than during the pre-) vious twenty-four hours. There was an increase in Hongkong cargo, and a de crease in freight for ports beyond, but despite the increase mentioned, the re- turas were again very poor, there being only two really fair returns Hongkong carco increased by over 5,000 tons, mainly due to one large return of coal, of over 3.000 tons. Freight for ports be- -yond decreased by over 3,000 tons.

The departures during. the same period came to five. r., one British and one America for Shanghai, -oue Dutch for Muntok, one Chinese for Sha U Chung and one British for Kobe. The clearances numbered, four, ris., one British for Otaar, one Japanese for Singapore, one Brtish fer Saigon and one French for Tourane.

SHIPPING NOTES.

At the Marine Court yesterday, before Lieut-Commander, G. F Hole, R.,, the master of a juna was charged with allowing the vessel to be under way withi out exhibiting regulation lights. A fine of 15 was imposeti.

The master of the s.5. Hallis (British) which arrived yesterday from Hongy, reported that much wreckage of junks, consequent upon the recent typhoon was

passed.

The total number of deek" pässengers entered for the twenty-four hours ended! at 9 am yesterday was 607, of which the s.s. Suigang (British) from Shanghai and Amoy carried 279. and the 3.5. President. Wilson (American) from Manila 365.
