It is hereby permitted to reside and draw their stipends at this Presidency, shewing the amount of their Pensions, and the date from which they are to commence drawing with respect to Lieutenant Francis Sellar Balfour it is stated in the Descriptive Roll dated "War Office 17th October 1847" received with the order above referred to, that his Pension is to commence from the "1st January 1847"; but I would respectfully observe that he has been drawing his commuted Pension from the "5th December 1846" the date he was struck off the strength of the Hong Kong Police Force. Your Honor may therefore consider it necessary to direct this discrepancy to be brought to the notice of the Home Authorities with a view to it's being corrected. The date fixed for the commencement of Pension to the other individuals in the Descriptive Roll corresponds with that on which they were struck off the Police force at Hong Kong, viz "1st January 1847" from which they may have commenced drawing their commuted Pension in India.
