It is reported that plans are afoot to mine Wuchang wall and that a tunnel is already under way.
To-day the food situation, at. Wuchang is very critical. Twenty-six foreigners are confined within the city, of whom twenty-one are American, three British and two German.
The foreigners, so far, have been allow- ed to send out letters to Hankow friends, but after to-day all mail communication will be stopped by order of the Wuchang Authorities.
The Wuhan Chamber of Commerce have intimated to the Southerners that it is impossible to raise further loans, as their coffers are already drained. Anxiety is now being felt by Chamber circles as to how the refusal will be met.
