Sir,
I am directed by the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, that Mr. D. Entwistle has made a complaint to their Lordships, that he has been twice charged, and paid by him, Income Tax due upon his Salary as a Writer in your Department between April 1842 and June 1844, as alleged by him; but as it does not appear from the Accounts at the Audit-Office, Somerset House, that such double Charge and Payment was made.
I have to request that the accompanying Papers may be returned.
