Copy of Letter to Dr. Gutzlaff, dated 22nd February 1850.
The Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit to you the enclosed Letter from Dr. Gutzlaff, dated the 31st December last, with Enclosure, respecting the considerable Change stated to have been made for Income Tax upon his Salary while employed in the Public Service at Hong Kong; and I am to request that you will move the Governor to cause the necessary Instructions to be given to the proper Officer at Hong Kong to report, whether it appears from the Accounts that this Income Tax has been paid on Dr. Gutzlaff's Salary between April 1842 and the 30th of June 1846.
