With reference to the Despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong communicated to this Board in your Letter of the 5th Instant, I have it in command to acquaint you, for the information of Earl Grey, that the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury do not object to the continuance to Mr. Lena, on his removal to the Registration Branch of the Treasurer's Office, of the Rate of Salary he had previously received as Assistant Harbour Master; but should opportunity offer for Mr Lena's Promotion, My Lords have to suggest that such additional Clerk as may succeed him in the Treasurer's Department.
