The six representatives of Chinese merchants in Shanghai, who have been paying a visit to Canton, were accorded a very hearty official welcome. Banquets were arranged in their honour by General Chiang Kai Shek and also by the Nationalist and the Provincial Govern- ments.

According to the report of a recent meeting of the Kuomintang Political Council, appearing in the Canton Geestte, six resolutions were passed.
The fourth resolution was as follows:
"The Hongkong Government without reason, sent an armed motor-boat to Sumchun last week to disturb the in- habitants there.

GIRL HELD UP AT RAILWAY BRIDGE.

Walking-along Railway Path-(No.-3 Railway Bridge) leading from Mongkok to Hunghom about 4 o'clock on the after- noon of July 17th, three Chinese "girls were accosted by five man,' who suddenly sprang out of the hedge at them. One of the girls was robbed of a pair of bangles, bat her two companions managed to make good their escape.
A sequel to this highway robbery took place at the Kowloon Magistracy yester- day afternoon, when five men were charged befored Mr. J. H. B. Nihill.
The facts of the case were briefy out- lined by Detective Inspector Pincott, for the prosecution, who related how the girl. in question was suddenly grabbed by one of the men, the other four-immediately running up to him from where they had been concealed.
