Canton's statement regarding the origin and cause of the boycott was published in the Daily Press on Saturday. It was made by the Chinese delegates at the Conference on July 18th, and the Conference was then adjourned until July 19th, as it was requested that the British delegates should reply before matters of detail were discussed. The official text of the British reply has now been released for publication. It is as follows:
