The feature of yesterday's shipping statement · was the preponderance of British vessels. arriving over ships of other nationalitis for the period under review. Although there were five more arrivals than during the previous period, freight entered did not show a consider able increase. A total increase was re corded of over 8,000 tons, but this was Tentirely in respect of freight for parts beyond, which went up by 6,919 tons; while Hongkong cargo went down by T29 tons.
At 9 a.. yesterday there wore 43 vessels in the harbour, of which 25 were British. During the previous twenty- four hours fourtech vessels arrived, vi nine British, one French, two American and two Chinese. The departures over Apucy, British str., 1,776 tons, Capt.
