I think that, apart from the fast-yes, it's coming again and I'm going to make no apology for it-that they won't keep their eyes on the ball, the two troubles from which most beginners suffer are connected with position. First of all the positions they get into while making their strokes, and secondly the position they take up or rather neglect to take up, on the court itself.

There is another fault by which be sinners got themselves out of position on the court. It is the worst fault of all, and I am going to emphasise it. I refer to running round a ball which ought to be taken back-hand in order that it may bo taken on the fore-hand,

BALANCE.

"This "balance" business means so much in lawn tennis. What is it, then, balance? It consists in having, before you play the shot, all the weight of your body ready to move rhythmically onto the ball. And after the shot your swing should finish in such a way that you are not brought off your balance, but ready to move in which ever direction may be

To create more interest in the weekly baseball matches, a novel competition is being run in conjunction with the League. The Asia Advertising Agency have issued a number of programmes which will be distributed in the stands during every match, or they can be ob tained from The Brunswick House, 17, Ice House Street.

These programmes contain, in addition to the list of fixtures, league teams and league tables for 1925, the particulars with regard to a competition, for which the 1st prize is $30, the second prize $15 and the third prize 85 ||
