Hobbs and Sutcliffe opened the second innings, and at the lunch interval had scored 4 and 11, respectively, the score standing at 15 for 0.

HEAT INTEN 23. ". The heat was intense after lunch, but there were. sixteen thousand spectators when Hobbs and Sutcliffe continued their innings. For the sixth occasion in Test Matches the pair hoisted the century without being separated, both playing 574 sterling cricket.

YESTERDAY'S MATCHES.

As a result of their victory, yester day, over Craigengower in "B" Division, the Chinese Recreation Club top the Second Division table.

The match was played on the C.R.Ce courts and resulted in a win for the C.R.C. by 65 games to 30.

Storer hit out freely and scored 132 runs before being defeated, and Hutchi son contributed 81. J. J. Bridges took five Derby wickets at a cost of 120 runs. The position at the end of the game was that Yorkshire required 13 runs to win, and the securing of 83 runs had cost. them six wickets, "all takon by Clark, the left-arm fast bowler.

Mitchell, who secured a place in the side through the absence of Sutcliffe, Kilner and Macaulay, scored 189 runs.

The Kholapore Cup has been retained by Canada with a score of 1119.. The.

HAMPSHIRE DEFEAT WARWICK:

LATER. Hampshire, again exceeded the four hundred mark when they met Warwick at Portsmouth, and gained a comfortable. victory by nine wickets.

Quaife batted well in both innings for Warwick, but Midland country at no time looked likely to disturb the strong position set up by the Hants first innings

Hants: 465 and 66ffor 1 wicket). Quaife hit 65 in the Warwick first innings, and followed this up by scoring 50 in the second. The Hon. F. 8. G. Calthorpe hit out gallantly for 53, but Hants required only 63 to win.

The leading Hants scorers were Brown (92), Mead (75) and A. K. Judd (119).

Ernest Tyldesley maintained his splendid form of the past days or so, scoring 51 in the first innings and 131 in the second.
