DISTINGUISHED VISITOR TO THE FAR EAST.
THE BISHOP OF LONDON:
TO VISIT SHANGHAI AND. HONGKONG.
As has already been announced in our columns, the Bishop of London bas desid ed to make a tour of the Far East towards the end of the year, and that arrange ments have been made for his Lordship to preach in Hongkong on Christmas Day.
Referring to the visit the M.-C. Daily New to hand says that Shanghai gets goodly share. of the distinguished visitors of the world, but it is doubtful whether a more prominent ons" that the Bishop of London, the Rt. Rev. Arthur Foley Winnington Ingram, KOVO., has! ever paid a visit here. Dr. Lugram, is expected to preach in Shanghai on the Sunday before Christmas at the Cathe dral, and preparations for his visit while in the Far East are now, in the hands of the Bishop of Victoria
FIRST COURT OF THE SEASON.
BRILLIANT SCENE.
HER MAJESTY'S DRESS,
The King and Queen held at Bucking. bam Palace last month their first Court of the season, the, function being bril. liant and imposing. The State rooms and the various corridors were beautifully decorated with banks of qwers, and brilliant lighting threw into strong relief the uniforms and decorations worn by the gentlemen attend- ing the Court, and the lovely dresses and rich jewels of the ladies Unfortunately | the weather was not favourable from the point of view of the crowd assembled outside the Palace to witness the arrival of débutantes and others.
