FRIDAY JULY 2ND, 1910
ITALY OF TO-DAY.
HIGH-SPEED NOVELIST.
THREE CANTONESE PIRATES SHOT - FASCIST FIVE HOUR MARCH.
AT SHANGHAL-
A sequel to the piracy of the Butter- field and Swire steamer Tungehow, in January, has taken place in Shanghai, where three of the Cantonese pirates who participated in the affair were executed by the Chinese authorities on Monday of last week. The three ware among a party of seven criminals and desperadoca | who were despatched on a piece of ground at the back of the Chien Ting guild, near the South station.
The seven men were conducted to the execution ground by a guard of over 100 policemen and soldiers, and were shot by-a-military firing squad before a large crowd. Most of the men are reported to have met their deaths in a very un- concerned manner, only one or two of them showing signs of distress before the execution.
The three pirates were arrested among a large number of suspects taken from another B. and S. boat shortly after the Tuspehow was pirated. The Tungchow was seized by a southern gang who had shipped as passengers, and was taken from Weihaiwei to Bias Bay, where the pirates abandoned the vessel.
