Vlasta (France) were B Africa, Capt. W. E. Bergin, U.S.A., beaten in the doubles match by Miss Miss V. Hernhard, Mr. 8, C. Blane, Mr. Ryan and Miss Browne (America).

The match was in the second round of the Ladies Doubles and was played on the contre court. The French ladies had gained a lead of three games to two over the Americans when rain interfered with play. After an interval the rain stopped and the match was concluded, the Misses Ryan and Browne beating Mademoiselles Lenglen and Ylaster by 3/6, 9/7, 0/2.

The defeat of the French pair was due to the Americans' brilliance in rising to the occasion. The French ladies were within a point of the match in the tenth game of the second set, but were then pulled up. They were three times with in a point of the match in the fourteenth game, but the Americans saved and went on to take the set at 9/7. In the third set, the American ladies, inspired by their success, forced home the advantage with great confidence.
