With three more vessels arriving than on the previous day several of which carried heavy freights, yesterday's ship- ping statement recorded an all round increase in cargo, compared with the Agures for the previous twenty-four hours. There was a total increase shown of 25,501 tons. Hongkong cargo had gone up by 9,001 tons and freight for ports beyond by 15,000 tons. Both with regard to cargo for Hongkong and other ports British vessels carried the most.

Of the cargo for Hongkong, British steamers brought no less than 13,810 tons, the remaining 1,738 tons being divided in six vessels of other nationalities. The heaviest cargoes in British vessels were 6,047 tons, 4,000 tons and 1,139 tons. With regard to freight for porta beyond, British steamers carried 12,741 tons and other vessels 11,329 tous. The largest on- tries were 0.380 tons, 3,782 tons and 2,200 tons (British) and 7,336 tons in a vessəl under another flag.

with 841 tons of general cargo and mail;

Hai Ching (British) from Foochow and Amoy with 300 tons of general cargo and mail;
