you value your health

The days in which we live render it more difficult to maintain a con- dition of perfect health all the time. The system gets 'run-down' with rush and worries.

Hence the necessity for a health-build-

ing medicine one which will assist the restoration of health and will build up the system, Health-building is greatly facilitated by the regular use

of Beecham's Pills.

A sound digestion and a perfect assimilation are the foundations of Good Health. You may have these by taking.

The police have done uncommonly well -splendidly, in fact-and-they would be the first to add that they have been as aplendidly helped by the special constable all over the country. Those who remem ber the great war know how valiantly and ungrudgingly the public were sorved by these volunteer Constables, who were at their posts day and night in all cases of difficulty and danger. Once again the country has been in peril-this time, un- fortunately, the enemy was within the gates--and once more the specials res ponded engrily to the call. The great majority of the war-time men turned up at their old posts, when not engaged on other dutina, and were gladly welcomed by the authorities. Their numbers, con. siderable though they were, were aug- mented by fresh recruits, drawn from men of all classes and occupations. Age wha so bar to enthusiasm and activity. The Earl of Meath, the originator of Empire Day movement, who is 83,-. was sworn in a special constable as Chert. sey, and doubtless his example was followed in other parts of the country Carrying forward a balance by men approaching the number of his years. EFFECT ON THE STRIKERS. Theirs was a splendid example of quiet persistence in the face of trouble. The scheme by which they worked was extra-"'! ordinarily well planned, and as well car-The position of the rubber market ried out in every detail. What the

to-day is sketched by a home critic in public saw was a body of resolute men the following terms:- who. had determined that law and order should be preserved at all costs, and wonderfully was that object attained. There can be no doubt that the mere pre- sence of the specials at all points where difficulty might occur, that the display of a civil force which had seemed to spring up miraculously in a single night, had not only a steadying effect on the frayed nerves of a tired public, but was of distinct value in restraining the strikers themselves, and keeping their misguided enthusiasm, which might have degenerated into violence, within bounds. In many cases, in fact, the speciala were successful in saving the strikers from themselves; in thousands of other cases they were an assurance to the public that law and order would prevail, and that men and women might pureus their ordinary avocations in peace.

The position in the rubber market is very different to what it was a few short months ago. In December, with the price at four shillings a pound, we all looked like making our fortunea Now it is under two shillings, and in- vestors are more than over convinced that rubber is funny thing to have your money in. Even the experts are at a less to explain the drop, except to say that the consumers must be over- stocked. But one would have thought that they could have seen this coming six months ago.

Still rabber at two shillings is a use ful and paying proposition. We can only hope that it stays like that and that there will be no return to the pre restriction days, when the commodity would not fetch the cost of production.
