St. George's" Building; I am glad to say, shows a good improvement and more than covers the Interest on ita cost.
You will notice that there was some $306,000.00 due from unpaid calls. We are pressing Shareholders for payment, but have not yet actually forfeited the shares as we have the right to do, as, of coarse, we do not want to go to extreme measures with shareholders if we can avoid it.
In accordance with the resolutions pass- ed at the extraordinary meeting of the shareholders held on the 21st January, 1928, the capital of the Company was increased by the creation of 50,000 seven per cent. cumulative preference shares at $10.00 each paid up, of which so far 45,000 shares have been issued. With the help of this fresh capital, we shall, E trust, be now able to tide "over pur tronbles til better days return.
I might explain that we closed the books on the 31st December, 1925, instead of 15th January as last year, as the latter date was inconvenient in regard to pay- ments due at the end of the year and rents due at the end of the month.
I now propose that the report and accounts, as presented. be adopted and passed, and that the balance of $199,826.48 at,, debit of Profit and Los Account be carried to New Account. When that has been seconded, I shall be glad to answer questions from the share- holders.
Mr. H. Duzren seconded, and the re- part and accounts were adopted.
OTHER BUSINESS.
On the proposition of Mt. D. W. MUNTON, seconded by Mr. TOPPIN, Messrs. T. G. Weall, EM Raymond and J. Scott Harston were re-elected as members, of the Constilting Committee.
On the motion of Mr. A. KEITH, second- ed by Mr. A. O. BOTELHO, Menara Lowe, Bingham and Matthews, and Messrs. Perey Smith, Seth and Fleming were re- elected as auditors of the Company,

THE SHORT SKIRT IN GREECE.
YOUNG WOMAN SENT TO PRISON.
The Greek law against skirta shorter than 14 inches from the ground has proved itself to be not wholly a joke by sending to prison a young woman of 20. It is true that the question has been gravely considered and aired by the City Fathers, but in the country of Artemis, to say nothing of goddesses with even less inclination for skirts, their action has a certain piquancy. Also it is re- markable that in a part of the world where skirts and trousers are worn rather indiscriminately it should be possible to erect so rigid a standard:
Turkey, for instance, is not so very far off with her-trousered women. Albania, where the male population affects kilts. is fairly near home. Greece herself has kilts for men. The obvious, course for young Creek women is to retaliate. by adopting Turkish trousers and seeing what happens. It is, however, probable that the City Fathers themselves have bitten off more than they can chew.". Any young woman whose skirts were exactly 14 inches from the ground might.. be liable to arrest just to sea whether she was exceeding the statutory limit. And the younger the woman the more likely would the authorities be to look darkly at her. In America the Blue Laws re gulating bathing-dresses have resulted in the shortest bathing-dresses in the world.. It should be amusing if the Greek law with its concomitant prison should re- sult in a universal fashion of breeches, or even of trousers which are not neves sarily Turkish.
