Yesterday's match was played on the Stand Court, the local equivalent of the centre court at Wimbledon, and it at-181048
Baube tracted a large number of spectators. It Tronoh was well contested throughout: The pace was slow for neither Tottenham nor his opponent attempted to play brilliant tennis. Major Stevenson's resourceful. ness, however, gave him a decided adran tage and he appeared cool when pressed. Lift handed and quick at seizing opportunities, he often adopted the offensive by driving cross-court to Totten. ham's backhand, the latter's weakest point, and following up these shots at the net.
Tottenham was. not in form and although he was alert enough he was outwitted by a cleverer player." He would have done better by attacking his op ponent more often.
SA. Rumjaha made his way into the fourth round of the Open Singles by dis- posing of Cornaby in four Bots. The latter put up a strong defence and did ivory well in securing the first set. Rum
jah, however, played with greater pre- eision after this and took the next three
sets.
Major Willson and Sayer, both vete tans mad their opponents the Lo brothers go all out in order to win. The Chub pair after losing the first two sets, won the third and put up a bard struggle for the fourth, but failed to secure it...
