There was launched from the ship building yard of Messrs. William Hamil. ton & Co., Lid.. Port-Glasgow, on the March 31st, the steel screw stemmer Nerian, built to the order of the New York, Newfoundland and Halifax Strain- ship Co., Ltd. (óf which Menors. C. T. Bowring &Co., Ltd... liverpool, are Maungers) for the servien of their Red Cross Line between St. Johns, New foundland, New York and Bermuda. The principal, dimensions are-Length B.P. 350ft Breadth 1.. Depth to Upper Deck ft., gross tonnage about 6,500 tons. Much interest attaches to this vessel, as one of the conditions of contract was that the vessel should be complete and ready for arryice in lesa than şeven months. It is interesting to note that the keel was laid within seven days of receiving the order.. and that in spite of adverse weather the vessel was launched within five months.
