A verdict of accidental death was re turned, and no recommendations were made.
AN OPIUM CASE,
PORTUGUESE PURSER CHARGED WITH POSSESSION.
Before Mr.Lindsell at the Central Magistracy yesterday, J. F. d'Azevedo, the Portuguese purser of the Macao pleamboat."Sui” de, - was charged with possession of 40 taels of opium. Chinese seaman from the same vessel appeared as a second defendant.

The seaman was arrested on in Des Voeux Road Central, and the opium was found, concealed in the steamer's dispatch box which was in the man's possession. The name Sui An was inscribed on the box.
The case was remanded until Tuesday, hail being fixed in the case of the seaman at 85,000 and at $1,000 in the purser's
