The death is announced of Sir Bradford Leslie, at the age of Bi years. He was the Grand Old Man" of engineering and one of the most famous. bridge builders of this and last century. His many engineering fests in India are notable. He was probably the only man who continued in his profession long enough to throw two bridges over a river as important as the Hoogley, with

an interval of fifty years, between.

It was in 1874 that Sir Bradford Leslie built the first bridge over the Hoogley.
