I am directed by His Excellency The Governor to request that you will bring to the notice of the Honorable the Major-General the necessity of relieving the Colony from the heavy charge which has been incurred in providing Policemen in lieu of the guards furnished by the Troops for protecting the Jail and Naval Stores, the Catter Jones, and the Forts.

Since the 24th from the 3rd August, 1850.
