The match between M. W. Budd and A. R. Blinko (Shanghai) and B. F. Few and F. R. H. Maser (Manila) was very evenly fought both morning and after noon, being finally decided on the last green in Shanghai's favour. At no time during the day was either side more than By winning yesterday, Shanghai won two up, and at the end of the morning the rubber, for in addition to defeating round the watch was all square." At the end of the morning round yesterday, Manila appeared to have as good a chance of winning as Shanghai, for at the tiffin interval two games stood all square; with Shanghai haring a telling advantage in the other.

In the afternoon, however, Shanghait as on the previous day, made a splendid fight to turn the tide of fortune in their favour, and eventually won all three patches by margins of 1 up; 3 up and 1, and 5 up sad t.

The conditions prevailing were much the same as on the previous two days. The wind was high and gusty and often spoilt some good shots.

Nevertheless some excellent golf was Been as good as, if not better than, that witnessed in previous matches of the

tournament.

Both teams played exceptionally well, but Shanghai on the whole played the better golf.

Ferrier (Shanghai) played the best golf of the day and his shots were always pretty to watch and nicely finished. Budd (Shanghai) was rather disappoint ing, but Blinko, as usual, was well-up to form.

The two most interesting games were undoubtedly those of Budd and Blinko 1. Few and Mason, and Parbury and Pilcher v. Train and Nell.

It was in these that the keepest fights took place for in both matches the score was all square at the tin interval..

The captain of the Shanghai team had mentioned the subject of foursomes, but he (the speaker) must take the credit of having mentioned that matter to him when he landed in the Colony. He had also put the matter before the committee, and several members of the Eongsong Golf Club, and was very much surprised to find that nearly everybody agreed with him that foursomes were
