ROYAL NAVY. INTERPORT XL:
The final game for the Interport termi before their departure for Shanghai to morrow, was played on the Hongkong F.C. ground against a strong combina tion from the Royal Navy,
From the very start the smart work of the Navy forward line had the Interport defence guessing. When the Interport team and get moring they failed to turn to account some fine openings. The Navy opened the score following a corner kick, Rodger clearing from a shot by Shore, but Hannington receiving from the clear anve gave Rodger no chance with a high shot. After a brief visit by the Interport team to the Navy goal, Charlesworth just missing the upright, the Navy returned to the attack and Rodger cleared from a drive by Shore. Gosaco failed to turn. the ball in the right direction, when Macklesworth sent over from the wing. After tricky play by King, Rodger-was- called
upon to clear and Gosano with only Wavish to beat, failed. Following a corner kick for the Navy, Davenport test ed Rodger with a long shot. Gosano worked to, a good position but failed to get his shot in before Wright dobbed up and cleared. The Navy went further ahead when Shore, receiving from a wing pass by Cobb, casily beat Bodger from close range. The Interport defence was very shaky at this time, Wynne failing to hold King; while Wheeler could do little against the Navy Right
Offside by Mackiesworth stopped the Interporters and Humberstone with good opening sent over the bar. Bristowe and Hudson headed the ball at the same time and Hudson fell stumped but was SOOD up again and left the field with a cut head returning after a couple of minutes absence. A fine shot from Cobb almost got home, Rodger saving just as the Navy centre rushed up,
Humberstone sent in a daisy cutter which Wavish turned round the post-a very smart clearance. Wright cleared the corner kick and later cleared from a centre by Marklesworth Gosano and Butler made further efforts to score but Wavish was in the right place every- time Halftime, Royal Navy, ; Inter port XI., 0...
The Interport team got away from the centro kick, but lost the ball in touch. A free kick for the Navy gave Shore a chance and he sent against the crosslar, The Interporters scored their first goal through a movement started. by Bristowe, who sent Humberstone is, the latter giving Gosano a fine opening of which he took fall advantage. After⋅ even exchanges, a scramble in the Navy goalmouth ended with Gosano putting the ball into the net, making the score two all
A dash by the Navy forwards almost brought them success but Bristowe drop- ping back cleared. The Navy came again and King beat Rodger with a fast
ross shot.
Offside play by Butler and Charles worth stopped the Interporters but they were not to be denied and Gosano eren tually got his head to a fine centre from Charlesworth and beat Wavish, making the score three goals all, which was the eventual result.
