The subject of payment of the Police Rate (under Ordinance No. 2 of 1845) on buildings hired by the Ordnance Department for military purposes having been lately brought to the notice of His Excellency The Governor, I am directed to enclose herewith, for the information
of the Honorable the General Commanding, copy of the opinion of the Attorney General on the subject.
and to add, that the Police Rate Collectors and Assessors have been instructed to levy the Assessment on Buildings so occupied, payment to be made by Captain Staveley, Assistant Military Secretary.
