Yesterday's shipping statement show- ed that the total number of vessels ip the harbour at 9 a.m. was 74, of which 38 were British.
There were 14 arrivals during the at D 21.135. twenty-four hours ended yesterday, prz.-eight British, two French, Three Japaness and one Chinese. Of the arrivals, one was from Haiphong, que from Haiphong and Fort Bayard, one from Foochow and Amoy and one from Kwang Chow Wan. The departures for the same period numbered 14, of which one was for Amoy, one for Kwang Chow Wan, one for Hoihow and one for Swntow Clearances, numbered three, including one steamer for Haiphong and on for Hoihow.

The as. Taiphing (sister ship to the Changte) built by the Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Company at Kowloon Dock to the order of the Australian. Oriental Line, Ltd. (Messrs. Y. S. Yuill & Co., Sydney), joined the Hongkong Australian run yesterday, when she sail- ed from this port on her maiden voyage via Manila and ports to Australian ports.
