The only work
exceeding
£200 is
that for widening the road from
Sookhunpoo to North Point, towards Saiwan, amounting to £345, 16.8; the usual
Report and estimate for which
accompanies
the letter of the Surveyor General and further reference subject will be found in No. 13 of the 7th January 1850.
All the other services being each under £300 (the sum which it would appear by the Colonial Regulations the Governor is authorized to expend without previous reference home for sanction)
I do not consider it necessary
to forward Reports and estimates Plans and Contracts. The subject is referred to
in the margin above stated.
In conclusion I would beg to be
furnished with
your Lordship's Instructions relative to the nature and amount of Services appertaining to the Department of the Surveyor General for which
your Lordship may
consider it necessary for
me to obtain sanction, which will
obviate the necessity of any further
reference.
