Having, along with my late partner D. Dule, professionally attended the Wouth Macao Camp for some time,
I can fully certify that her health is so impaired as to require a change to a more temperate climate. After a residence of 45 years in tropical climates, we cannot be quite surprised that even the best & strongest constitutions, however carefully guarded, will give way here. I find that all the functions of his sense of sight are bad as to require the lake to be used. The hearing in the left ear is quite good, and in fact all studies are more or less fruitful.
There is a constant tendency to torpidity of the living functional arrangement of the spleen & disorderly state of the stomach - Since worsened. I think he has suffered greatly from dull, gnawing pain in the region of the left hypochondrium with occasional sharp sensations of pain & his bowels are frequently out of order - and scorbutic symptoms have also unsettled his nervous system. I am therefore of opinion that it is absolutely necessary that he should have a permanent change to a cooler climate when his whole system may be much recruited.
