ARRIVES IN THE COLONY.
Arriving in the Colony on Wednesday by the s.s. President Wilson was one of the best known newspaper, men in Amn rica, namely Mr. Ray W. Howard. Chairman of the Board of the United Press Association.
Mr. Howard is also Chairman of the Board,, of the Scripps Howard News- papers, comprising about 50 daily news- papers in the United States, and the Newspaper Enterprise Association. Tho influential journals as the Cleveland Scripps-Howard newspapers include such Press, the Cucinatti Port, the Pittsburgh Press, the Columbus Citizen, the Balli- gre Post, the Washington News and others.
Mr. Howard began his newspaper career as a reporter on the Indianapolis: Yers and had a rapid rise, becoming, in 1912, President and General Manager. of the United Press Association which grew into one of the greatest news gathering erganisations in the world under his management and took on an international scope with distribution of its news to leading journals in many foreign coun tries. In January, 1921, Mr. Howard became, Chairman of the Board of the United Prese and was made Chairman of the board and director of the Scripps newspapers, which changed their name to the Scripps Howard" Newspapera”
Since his arrival in the Far East, Mr. Howard has interviewed Marshal Chang Tso Lin at Mukden, in which the War Lord denounced Moscow and its inter- ference in China. Mr. Howard proceeds to Manila to-day and will re-visit Hongkong on his way back to the United States.
