2--ORMONDE HANDICAP.
Mach regret was expressed when it became known that the absence of Mr. R. J. Patterson, the Honorary Clerk of the Coursa, was due to sudden illness and it is sincerely ta he hoped that bis ilmenty Severn's Jambu (late Stunner will disappear as suddenly as it appeared. By kind permission of Lieut-Colonel Montague-Bates, C.E., C.M.G., BS.o., and Officers, the Band of the 1st. Battn., The East Surrey Regiment, under the haten of Band Sergeant T. Earl, was again in attendance and added much to the afternoon's enjoyment.

The talent started badly when Captain Oxspring steered Grey Streak to victory in the first event, the Novices Race, and upset a red hot favourite in Loch Rau noch (Mr. Stanton). The following went to the post Two Pairs (31 tickets), Loch Raunoch (429), Beldordey Star · (23), Mowgli (60), Grey Streak (39) Duke of Frisco (43), and Saily).
Captain Uxspring,, when his mount appeared beaten at the top of the straight, got him going again and won by a short head from Two Paira (Mr. da' Haza), with the favourite only head Lehind. It was as fine a finish as ona wishes to see and all three riders are to be congratulated.
Only three went to the post for the Ormonde Handicap: Beauty Dahlia (342), Jamba (162), Uncle Chick (376),
The favourite was never; in the hunt, suing last from start to finish Mr. Davies, on Begaty. Dahlia, led through out and finished 4 lengths in front of Jambu Beauty paid $14.20 on the win ning tote and $21.10 for a pince, which
is unusual.
In the Letcombe Stakes the field was: Valiant (133), Rothesay (362), Uncia Albert (229), Nugget (297), Quah (48), Critic (26).
That old warrior Rothesay, with Lt. Cdr. Thompson in the saddle, wore down his field and won somewhat handily from Nugget, with Valiant a poor third. Critic appeared to have a fighting chance at the top of the straight, but "hit himself and pulled up lame.
The Leger was another exercise gallop for Grey Morn, who beat Grey Knight by 6 lengths, with Beldorney a similar distance away.
