As the proceedings taken in this case were at the request of the French Minister, there seems to be nothing further to be done at present, but to approve.

The Extradition Treaty & Act do not relate to piracies, and only to murders, when committed "within the jurisdiction" of the Crown. Suppose a murder is committed anywhere on board a British ship, is it "within such jurisdiction"? But the point seems rather a delicate one.
Perhaps these Papers should be sent to the Law Officers merely indicating this difficulty, saying that the 27th August despatches appear to afford good reason to the contrary.
