M. KARAKHAN,

RECEIVES MANY TELEGRAMS ON

NORTHERN CRIȘIS, ̧·

The following statements are contained in a Noita News Agency message from Peking, dated June 11th:-

Mr. L. M. Karakban has, in his expneity of Ambassador and Dean of the Diplo matie Body, received a series of tele grams, bearing on the present erisis, from various public bodies, social organisations, etc., in China, requesting him to convey these messages to the Ministers accredit- ed at Peking

Among those addressed to the Dean of the Diplomatic Body are the following. messages from the High River and Naval Engineering School at Nanking, and from the Citizens' Meeting of the Klangri Province, held at Nanchang

The first telegram reads as follows: "The Dean of the Diplomatic Body,

Ambassador Karakhar, Peking

"Mr. Ambassador, Ever since the change of régime in Chira, the political situation has been troubled, and a dis- orderly state of affairs has prevailed during all this transitional period.

“All those who have a concern for the State are striving for constructive work. However, the imperialists, glad as they are to seize upon what they consider to be a good opportunity, are profiting by this situation to apply in full scope their mothods of oppression, to deprive us of our rights and further aggravate bur intemal troubles. What they wish is to place China in such a situation as she should ever encounter humiliation and dificulties, never have a single day of quiet, while they themselves should thus bave ample opportunity to proceed seizing and absorbing our country."

"The people's heart is yet alive and clearly discerns the danger, seeing that not until imperialism is broken is there any hope of salvation. The youth is calling upon the popular masses that they be awakened, for which end there must be freedom of meetings and freedom of demonstrations. But the imperialists, in their bitter hatred, consider that this to their disadvantage and so with the more energy have recourse to their oppressive methods, whereby they want with us and seize by the thoat a 400 million people,

to prevent its regeneration.
