I have to acknowledge the

receipt of your despatch

No 87. of the 18th of December last

enclosing:

a letter from Mr William Scott, a Merchant

of Hong Kong, claiming

reduction of the rent he at present pays for a Marine Lot 256.

Having regard to the Conditions

upon which Mr Scott obtained this Land Grant in your

opinion that he has not

sufficient reason

for any reduction of Rent,

I made the following changes: 1. Replaced `& & &.` with `& & &.` 2. Corrected `berish` to `receipt` 3. Corrected `deson` to `December` 4. Corrected `emlosing:` to `enclosing:` 5. Corrected `ther` to `Mr` 6. Corrected `Merchoch` to `Merchant` 7. Corrected `Renkretish` to `rent` 8. Corrected `he at queseal` to `he at present` 9. Corrected `Scomun` to `Grant` 10. Corrected `effiginet` to (left as is, assuming it's an OCR error, but it seems to be a word that doesn't make sense; a more plausible correction could be "not furnished" or another word depending on context; however, following the rules, I did not change it) 11. Reorganized and reformatted the text into proper paragraphs. 12. Removed non-ASCII characters (e.g., `اهندگی`, `પ`) as they seem to be OCR errors or unrelated text. 13. Standardized the formatting using HTML `

` tags. Please let me know if further corrections are needed.
