The following quarterly progress re- ports by the Director of Public Works gre laid on the table of the Legisintive Council yesterday':---

port ending 31st March, 1995). Satisfactory progress has been made. The concrete casing to the stanchions and reinforced concrete, to the floor have been completed up to the 3rd floor, while that to the 4th Boor is well advanced.

The granite plinth to the building and the surrounds to the main entrance door in Connaught Roud have been completed, and work is proceeding with the granite Road and Connaught Road which stand at an average height of so' and 6' 0" respectively.

The number of registered articles hand-facing to the stanchions in Des Voeux led amounted to 831,973 as compared with 805,002 in 1920-an increase of 43;971.

The figures for insured articles were 13,9 and 19070 respectively-an in- crease of 1,836,

Parcels, ordinary and insured, which were dealt with reached a total of 308,190 ns against 417,569 in 1923-a decrease of 21,874.

The decrease is attributed to various offices eloxing direct parcels mails to other administrations instead of sending through Hongkong.

The balance of revenue over expend ture amounted to $488,360.20.

Table VII. gives the revenue from the sale of postage stamps for the years 19 1993 and 1994. The increase of revenue from this source in the year 1924 over that of 1923 amounted to $40,330.51.
