[TO THE EDITOR OF THE ROXOKONG
'DAILY PRESS,"
as jo the structural condition of St. Paul's Cathedral have recently been circulated. Some of your readers may be interested to read the reassuring report of the Expert Committee appointed to investi ate the matter.
An armed robbery was committed as the Fat Hing Lau tenshop, 110, Weosung Street, at 11.50 p.nl on Thursday, night. |- SIR.-Some very alarming statements The mistress of the ten-shop relates that, while she and her fokis were inside, three
en armed with revolvers and duggera burst in, and drove all the occupants into the kitchen, where they were bound-nud *gged. The robbers then ransackel the place and decamped with jewellery, clothe ing and money of the total value of $200. Some connection with the above is "apparently held by a report made by Lance-Sergeant Butcher to the effect that he was on duty with a party of constables in Woosung Street on Thursday night, soon after a robbery had been committed
in a local ten-shop. About 3am. man was seen coming cut from one of the houses carrying a basket.. On ling com manded to stop, the man ens away and Sergt. Butcher and his constables gave chase through several strrits. Eventually "a volley of shots was fired at the fugitive, who was wounded in the hand and gave ia. The basket contained clothes which could not be identified as the property stolen from the tenshop. The man, how ever, admitted having stolen the 'clothes from another house. After being taken to the Kwong Wah Hospital for treat ment, the man was taken into custody
}
The Report itself is too long and too technical to be of general interest, but I think it may be a relief to many to read the concluding remarks-which I have draw your attention to in red ink in the accompanying Journal-Yours faith- fally.
