Lively cricket was shen, when the R.N. eloven were set to obtain. 206 in their fourth innings Wauchope was badly gut over the eye by a ball. that run up his bat, and retired hurt. A feature of thi innings was Jotham's 100 (not out).

THE STAR FERRY SERVICE.

"

NEW BYE-LAWS REGARDING AMENITIES OF -TRAVEL.

New by-laws made by the Star Ferry Co., Ltd., have been approved by the Governor in Council. Under these by

laws no person may travel on a. ferry after being warned by a scrant of the Company that the ferry has a full com- plement of passengers.

No person may smoke in a cabin marked "No Smoking," or shall smoke or carry a lighted pipe or cigarette in any part of the Company's launches in such a manner as to cause a nuisance or inconvenience to other passengers.

Personal-duggage is limited to lbs. in weight or one cubic foot in measure-

munt.

No person is to board the ferries or leave them - except by the proper en- frances or exits. (People frequently velimb over the rails);

Provision is made against use of another person's season ticket.

No intoxicated person is to be allowed to travel first-class.

Provision is made against the use of obscene "language or other offensive be- haviour on whärves or ferries.

Spitting in, on, or from the ferry is prohibited.

Anyone whose clothing might, in the opinion of an inspector of the company, soil the dress or clothing of other passen- gers, can be prevented from travelling

No dogs or other animals shall be taken on board or on the wharves except. pn a lead, and after permission bas been ol tained from the collector on duty at the entrance. Any dog must be removed when the person in charge is so requested by a servant of the company.

The company's servants can lawfully prevent passage of anşont who might, in the opinion of the inspector or col- lector ≫ on

be offensive to other duty, passengers.**

The penalties prescribed for breaches of these by-laws comprise a 5ae.of up to $3 for the first offence and $10 for subacquent ones, after summary convic tion before a magistrate; except in the case of breaches of by-laws Nos. 9 and 19 (travelling without paying, or with the wrong ticket) for which offenders are liable to a fine of anything up to $15 for a årst and 350 for a subsequect offence.
