Despite the urgent demand of the Cebu Portland Cement Company, Government-owned concern. for protec tion of its products against competition from foreign cement products which are being landed in the Philippines in large quantities, the increased tariff rates on imported cement which were passed by the recent session of the Legislature and approved by the Governor-General are not expected to become effective for several months, it was declared in official, circles.
