Hongkong,
Gentlemen,
I have the honor to acknowledge
your letter of this date enclosing
the receipt of your letter
and
order for Spanish Dollars 7990.11, being the amount received by you on
account of subscription to the Church.
The
sum
for which the Church
is to be built has been estimated at £6,959;
it is likely to occupy two
years in building. His Excellency
the Governor has directed me to inform you
that an Ordinance is being passed, giving power to the successors
of the Church to elect Trustees, in whose hands, together with others on the part of
the Government, the management of the
Church will be placed.
