It has been the expectation and is

the wish of the gentlemen of the Committee, that

the Government should superintend the building of the Church.

I beg therefore to prefer the request that His Excellency the Governor will be

pleased to order it.

I would desire to explain that the applications made for the assistance of Mr.

Soper

was

only

on

the supposition that such

assistance would be given by him

on the part of Government.

I trust

you

as an

will excuse

my

in

presenting the request in this general form,

and will favour

me

with

such information

as I may lay before the Committee.
